John Tawa is the former managing editor of Student Sports Magazine and the former national volleyball editor for StudentSports.com. Once a practicing attorney, Tawa wised up after 10 years and turned in his pinstripes for a pen, where he's been writing about volleyball since 1998. Tawa lives with his wife and three small boys in West Linn, Oregon, where he awakens every morning to the sound of ice accumulation from the previous night's storm tearing another branch off of his tall cedar tree.
Tawa was adamant when he began the process of building PrepVolleyball.com that all people involved with the endeavour were a part of the volleyball community. Eric Schulze, on a whim, contacted Tawa to offer his help in designing the site. Schulze, a freelance designer, was offered the part-time job and helped launch and maintain the site. In September of 2005 Tawa hired Schulze full time under the title of Chief Operations Officer. As the head of operations, Schulze handles many tasks including all things related to the design/development of the site, promotions, advertising, technical support and may even dabble in the writing aspect from time to time. A club volleyball coach for 10 years, Schulze currently coaches for Club Fusion Volleyball and resides in McHenry, Illinois with his wife and two young daughers.
