15 Open Narrows in on Gold on Day 2 at AAUs

Elizabeth Binder and her Sting teammates see what the buzz is about in 15 Open gold.

After play has finished on Day 2, of the 18 teams left, no teams remain undefeated in sets. Only two teams have dropped just one set through to Day 2: Northern Lights 15-1 and KiVA 15 Red. And, only four teams have yet to be defeated in a match: Lights, KiVA, OT 15 S Melito and Munciana Lorax.

If Day 1 was the warm-up, then Day 2 proved to teams that it will be a demanding road to make it to the Finals. Teams had to finish in the top-two on Day 2, regardless if it was in a pool comprised of three or four teams.

Some three- and four-seeded teams on Day 2 made it through to gold on Day 3. While I, like many people, generally like to think of the one- and two-seeds as teams who “should win,” here in Orlando, we have to change our thinking. 15 Open is wide open for the taking and every team even on Day 2 is capable of winning it all.
