15s Division Five Points of Interest

PVB takes a look at the 15s Division, including where are the Class of 2020 recruits playing club, plus a dark horse and teams on the rise.

Munciana's Melanie Shaffmaster, blocking far left, is one of eight committed players from the Class of 2020 but like most isn't playing in the 15s Division this spring.

The 15s Division is always the hardest to get going with, because we didn’t cover this age group in 14s a season ago.

At the same time, I can’t wait to see the new crop of players out there. Below you’ll find five things that caught my interest as the season gets underway this month. Among them is where are the 2020 commits playing club (hint not in 15s!) and which squad is a potential dark horse?

Where are the 2020 commits?

That’s the question I was wondering. From what I can tell, there are eight indoor players committed so far from the Class of 2020.

Your Darkhorse SA Magic 15 E played the team to beat in San Antonio Alamo 15 Premier last weekend. Alamo winning in straight sets. There is a reason why these girls have been in the Open Division for the past 2 years. Returning 6 girls from last years 14 open team and adding five outstanding new girls this year. This team is loaded with height and athletes including 3 6A lettermen from Canyon HS, Clemens HS and Steele HS.

It’s a long season. Way too early to draw any conclusions about anything. I wish all teams the best of luck.
