18s: The Open At-Large Situation
FacebookTwitterEmailPrint

The Mideast Qualifier this weekend is going to determine the fate of more than just the teams competing in Indianapolis, where a whopping 15 qualified clubs are entered.

Anyone hoping for an Open at-large bid is going to be watching intently. The Pacific Northwest Qualifier is also going on this coming weekend, but all three bids are guaranteed to go out there so no at-larges are coming from Spokane.

That leaves Indy and whether the at-large pool – currently at one – will grow or not. It can max out at four or remain at one. With such a strong field in Indy with teams like Legacy, Circle City, TK and Top Select it seems unlikely all three bids go out in Indy. It’s possible no bids go out with trickle down not extending past eighth place.
