AAUs: Nine Lives Lift Munciana To 15 Open Gold
FacebookTwitterEmailPrint

Munciana 15 Lorax coach Sarah Roush walked over to her players as they were huddled together on the sidelines and the first words out of her mouth was, “Wow, wow!”

Munciana was seconds removed from defeating Michigan Elite 15 Mizuno in three games, a victory that not only placed Muncie in the 15 Open division championship at the AAUs Volleyball National Championships but came to fruition only after an improbable comeback in Game 2 that kept Munciana’s season alive.

If fighting off five match points against in the second set, as Michigan Elite built a 24-19 margin, wasn’t enough in the drama department, then certainly Munciana received its fix in outlasting OT 15 Randy in an unbelievable ending to the championship clash Monday night. Munciana brushed off another four match points against – nine in all on the day – in Game 3, ultimately earning the gold medal after downing OT Randy, 25-17, 24-26, 21-19.
