AAUs: Previewing 17 Premier

With AAUs kicking off next week, we go through the favorites and top contenders in 17 Premier. We also take our crack at picking the correct winner.

Munciana 17 Valkyrie, pictured above, aims to finish above its seed by reaching the gold bracket of 17 Premier.’s famous year-end previews and predictions continue with the 17 Premier division at the AAU Junior National Championships in Orlando. Premier is for club teams that self-select at one tier below Open. First serve is June 19 with the championship match scheduled for June 22.

There are 105 teams entered in 17 Premier to play a tournament that will be conducted over four days. Pool play is the order of the first three days. The actual pools and format have been released. Only fourth-place finishers don’t advance from the first day. Teams need to finish first or second to advance from pool play on Days 2 and 3. For those moving, they’ll play in a challenge bracket in order to qualify for the gold bracket on Day 4.

Based on the forms and emails we have received after multiple requests, we’ve been able to determine some favorites, some contenders and a dark horse.
