Clubs Around the Country Dive Back into Volleyball

As USA Volleyball (USAV) has begun to sanction club volleyball events once again and released its guidelines to do so, many clubs have gotten back to the gym, as their state and local guidelines have permitted. At first, I wondered why teams didn’t just practice and players didn’t take lessons anyway, without the USAV’s blessing – with precautions, of course. The answer is for liability and receiving the USAV's insurance coverage. The JVA also highlights a note about insurance on its website and says that “teams will be able to utilize ‘virtual’ training as part of the JVA Insurance program. The coverage remains the same.”

The USAV and JVA both set out guidelines to return to play safely, but we also asked clubs around the country what this actually looks like put into practice in their facilities and with their athletes. Each facility, club, city, and state will have their own guidelines, of course, but the following can at least serve as some inspiration about what clubs around the country are doing.
