Friday morning and Skyline Juniors 16 Royal was feeling optimistic warming up for its opening match in the 16 Open division at the Mizuno Lone Star Classic.

The team had worked really hard at practice the previous week, giving everything they had and going for every ball.

“Those were some of the best practices we had,” said OH Lauren Evans. “As a result, I felt we had a really good chance this tournament.”

Then play began and Skyline lost its very first set, to a Houston Skyline team that would go on to finish 29th out of the 35 that entered.

On the bench, head coach Ryan Mitchell was thinking, “Here we go again…”
