Disney: Top-Ranked Shocker In 16 Open

There was plenty to cheer about for the family members of Triangle 16 Black, which didn’t lose a match in 16 Open and qualified at the Disney Showcase.

So few and far in between are my opportunities to “brag” about my predictions that I just couldn’t let this one pass without mention.

When asking for feedback from our Club Rankings Team last week for the updated 16s National Rankings no one disputed OTVA 16 Roberto as the No. 1 team in the country. In fact, there was no way OT wouldn’t get its bid at the Disney Showcase over the weekend, thus I wrote:

“With OT’s showing at Triple Crown, there is no doubt OT is not only the team to beat this weekend, but probably the team to beat nationally as well. In a condensed field with only two bids on the line, having a heavy favorite like OT can really change things. Without some sort of huge surprise, it’s likely OT will punch its ticket this weekend. That would leave a race for the other bid among the remaining clubs. It appears to be wide open behind OT, making for a great opportunity for some to take advantage of. Who will it be? Metro and Triangle are in the running, but don’t overlook CJV.”
