GJNC: 18 Open Preview and Predictions

So what if we haven’t picked one right 18 Open champion yet this season? That shouldn’t stop you from reading our outlook and predictions for Dallas, and seeing which team we are bound to screw up on this time.

Morgan Davis (18) is part of a Top Select ranked No. 1 in the nation by PVB and seeded No. 2 overall in Dallas. Will Top Select raise the trophy? See our pick below.

It’s not just the offenses.

Everything is happening faster in the 18s Division.

It includes the Junior National Championships, which for the second straight season are played over the course of three days instead of four like the other ages at the end of the year.

By the end of Day 2, clubs are already fighting it out for a spot in the gold bracket. Below, we break down what you need to know about the 18 Open field, including pool-by-pool predictions and outlooks, plus our ultimate pick for the gold medal.

Format

Nothing’s changed since last year. There are six, six-team pools. Clubs must finish in the top four of their respective pools in order to advance to the challenge brackets. Winners of three-team challenge brackets (two teams play while one receives a bye before playing the winner) reach the gold bracket.

That’s great! I never root/want a team to do as bad as I might have predicted. Each pool calls for 15 victories and 15 losses, so I do the math. I’m always hoping for teams to do better than I predicted!
