The 16 Open division at the Mideast Qualifier (MEQ) hosted 28 ranked teams of the 45 in the field. With three bids up for grabs and two teams who had previously qualified (Rockwood Thunder 16 Elite and Dynasty 16 Black), the trickle-down was possible. But with so many strong contenders in Indianapolis, teams couldn’t count on that to save them. A finish of third place or better would have to be the goal to qualify for USAV Nationals, and that’s just what it came down to.
