Newly Adopted 2018 NCAA Legislation: What It Means

The NCAA Division I volleyball rules have vastly changed. Here’s what it means…

You’ve probably heard by now that the rules in Division I volleyball are transforming the way we recruit. If not, we wrote about the details here.

The NCAA Board of Directors has met, reviewed, and adopted the Council’s proposed legislation. The five rules pertaining to Division I volleyball will become effective either immediately (as of April 25, 2018) or August 1, 2018 and will be in place for the 2018-19 academic year.

Conversations surrounding the legislation have been swirling as it’s a hot topic among prospective student-athletes (PSAs), club staff and club recruiting coordinators, parents, and Division I college coaches. What does it really mean for the immediate future of recruiting in volleyball?
