Because of the format, the path to qualifying in USA in many ways is more treacherous than Open.

Yes, some of the best club teams across the nation dot the Open landscape and yet the percentages are much more favorable.

With three Open bids and 40 teams competing in 15 Open, clubs had a 7.5 percent chance of earning a bid. In 15 USA, the same number of bids held true but with 116 teams chasing them. That lowers the chance of qualifying to 2.6 percent.

That’s harrowing enough.
