TCS 16s Elite: OT Is Back On Top

OT 16 Roberto’s Audrey Douglas (5) goes on the attack in the middle against Wave in the 16 Elite championship contest, as OT showed it could be the class of the division.

Looking at the loaded group consisting of Pool A prior to the tournament starting, there was the overwhelming feeling that two of them would emerge and ultimately play for the 16 Elite championship come Monday’s conclusion at the Triple Crown Sports Pre-Season NIT in Salt Lake City.

However, by the time the semifinals were formed that was no longer possible. Either a team from Pool B or C would go against one of the Pool A representatives. While OT 16 Roberto and Coast 16-1 were among the expected heavyweights to slug it out to the very end, A5 Mizuno 16-1 Gabe and Wave 16 Brent were not. As it stood, one of the two latter would have a shot to shock the field and leave Utah with one of the year’s best tournament victories.
