DALLAS – Getting 15-year-old kids up at the crack of dawn and then motivating them to play volleyball all day long, and then some, can be an arduous task. But members of AVA TX 15 Team Rox seem to have the long three-day grind of a USAV National Qualifier down pat – to a winning degree.

Absolute Volleyball Academy of Dickinson, Texas, showed some serious mettle on the second day of the 2019 Mizuno Lone Star Classic at the Dallas Convention Center. The Galveston County squad lost its very first Round 2 pool play match on Saturday, falling to EliteVBTC 15 Blue 25-22, 25-22 in a hard-fought battle.

But the Houston-area team bounced right back by reeling off three consecutive victories, including a crossover win in the evening, to advance to Sunday’s Gold bracket. After two days of play, AVA is 6-1 and among the top five teams in its division.
