USAV 16 Open: Eight Set In Gold After Grueling Challenge Matches
FacebookTwitterEmailPrint
What happened in the first two days in 16 Open at the USAV Girls Junior National Championships (GJNC) matters, so long as you made it out in the top four and got to the next round of Gold. The teams who finished 5-0 in pool play – TAV 16 Black, Tstreet 16 Mike, A5 Mizuno 161 Gabe, CoJrs 16 Shannon – weren’t necessarily rewarded with anything other than a top seed in a new pool of hungry and talented challengers. In fact, three of those four teams lost a match on Friday morning to put them in perhaps a more difficult situation in the Challenge Rounds… and that one was the final one that mattered to get to the final eight in 16 Open Gold. On the other side of the argument, if a team could squeak by in the fourth position after the first round of pool play by winning a match or two, win just one more in the morning, and then win its Challenge match for four total wins then it was in! That just so happened to be Skyline 16 Royal’s path. No matter how close or the circumstances in between Day 1 and Day 3, Skyline’s record became 4-4, but one of those wins included its early evening Challenge match against Adversity G16 Adidas.
