In 16 and 17 Open at Windy City, the third-place finishers on Day 1 still had their hopes set on getting back into Gold after their pool was finished. A series of Challenge matches allowed four of those teams to stay alive.

In 15 Open, however, with a few more teams to make the pools even, just the top-two would continue on. That doesn’t mean 15 Open was as simple as it seems – with a few upsets and ties, Day 1 in Chicago wasn’t a breeze!
