There’s plenty we still don’t know after the opening weekend of the college volleyball season.
Here’s one thing we do know for sure though.
Almost everybody is going to get better and improve as the season moves on. It’s just the way it works.
If you’re a fan of a team that was upset now is not the time to sound the panic alarm. Wait a moment and see what comes next.
There’s so much hype surrounding the start of the season that making too much out of the opening weekend can be dangerous. Nerves play a huge factor. Players are stepping into and learning new roles.
The passing isn’t crisp. The serving’s not sharp.
Lineups aren’t set.
Another theme of the weekend was learning to finish. There were enough examples of teams holding big leads only to lose sets or teams up late and not closing.
That’s another area teams are going to improve in.
The only alarm that needs sounding currently is the one going off for College Court Report, because it’s that time.
