With the playoffs kicking off this upcoming weekend, the final rankings of the regular season don’t matter quite as much.

That’s because everything is about to get settled on the court.

However, no one made it out of the regular season unscathed. Not with previously-undefeated Calvin falling in five games to Hope last week. However, Calvin defeated Hope two weeks prior, and with just one loss, retained the No. 1 overall spot in the final regular-season Top 25.

Calvin landed in a tough regional this weekend, featuring No. 5 Wittenberg.

Of course, no regional is tougher than out West.

Texas-Dallas lost for just the second time this season, going down to Mary Hardin once, but also beating Mary Hardin twice. Therefore, Texas-Dallas only dropped one spot and is No. 3 this week.

Moving up to No. 2 is Cal Lutheran, which swept Claremont. As a result, Cal Lu avoids the loaded West regional and is matched with No. 16 Wisconsin-La Crosse, No. 20 Northwestern MN and No. 25 Gustavus Adolphus.

That’s better than being out West, which contains No. 3 Texas-Dallas, No. 4 Claremont, No. 8 Trinity, No. 9 Southwestern, No. 10 Colorado College and No. 12 La Verne.

Emory, which checks in at No. 6, doesn’t feature any opponent in its regional that spent any time in PVB’s Top 25 this week.

Seventh-ranked Juanita wasn’t quite as fortunate, drawing No. 15 Mary Washington and No. 23 Christopher Newport.

Meanwhile, Hope is in a tough regional that features No. 13 Washington (MO), No. 14 Wisconsin-Whitewater, No. 18 Wisconsin-Oshkosh and No. 22 Elmhurst.

When it was all said and done, Wisconsin-Eau Claire was the only program ranked in PVB’s Top 25 that wasn’t included in the postseason field.
