The big news this week is that ACC leader Pittsburgh finally lost, dropping a four-set decision on the road at Duke. Cal Poly, which had lost only to Pitt prior to the weekend, also lost, in five sets out in Hawaii. Both teams had to fall in the College Top 64 and, in Cal Poly’s case, pretty far, because its biggest wins this season are over a now-struggling UCLA team.
The Big Ten continues to state its case as the best conference in the country, with five from the B1G in the top 10 and seven among the top 15.
All told, seven new teams enter the rankings, only No. 60 Idaho for the first time.
Please note: PrepVolleyball.com’s College 64, which ranks 64 teams, does not strictly determine the top 64 teams in the nation; rather, it is a ranking of the 64 teams we project will play in the NCAA tournament. This unique concept both recognizes the top teams in the nation, which hail largely from the “Power 5” conferences, as well as teams from those mid-major conference and leagues that often struggle for attention. Via this ranking, we will be paying attention to how every team in every conference does week-by-week.
