The conference season is winding down, which means less movement in the College Top 64, even as teams surprise with wins or underwhelm with losses, because their resumes have largely been built.
This week, we add only four new teams to the rankings, the most surprising of which is Princeton of the Ivy League at No. 53. We have the Tigers as an At-Large team currently. We realize that the committee isn’t likely to pick Princeton but we weren’t excited about the prospect of keeping struggling teams in the rankings and there was none better in our view from the list of teams in the bubble.
Please note: PrepVolleyball.com’s College 64, which ranks 64 teams, does not strictly determine the top 64 teams in the nation; rather, it is a ranking of the 64 teams we project will play in the NCAA tournament. This unique concept both recognizes the top teams in the nation, which hail largely from the “Power 5” conferences, as well as teams from those mid-major conference and leagues that often struggle for attention. Via this ranking, we will be paying attention to how every team in every conference does week-by-week.
