TAV 18 Black earned the silver medal in 18 Open at Junior Nationals and with the start of the college season now three weeks old, we couldn’t help but notice how many members of that team are contributing as freshmen at their respective programs.
Here’s a breakdown:
— Kylee McLaughlin, Oregon State, S
McLaughlin has started all nine matches for the Beavers and has registered 295 assists (10.17 per set) and 69 digs (2.38). With the return of senior McKenna Hollingsworth, McLaughlin could be shifting to a role in a 6-2.

McLaughlin’s teammate at Oregon State has also found her way into the lineup. Goings is fourth on the team with 53 kills (1.96 per set) and is second in digs with 73 (2.70). Those numbers will go up as her hitting percentage, currently at .146, improves.

The anchor of the TAV lineup because of her all-around play, Schwantz is now doing it for the Blue Devils. The freshman leads Duke with 108 kills (3.00) and is hitting .246. She’s tacked on 53 digs (1.47 per set) and 10 blocks.

A blocking machine in club, Anderson’s transferred that skill to the next level. She currently leads the Sooners in stuffs with 33 (0.97 per set). Anderson is also fourth in kills with 55 (1.62) and is hitting .274.
— Sarah Sanders, Oklahoma, OH
Sanders has played in about half of Oklahoma’s sets so far. She’s compiled 17 kills (1.13 per set) and 11 blocks (0.73).

Playing in every set to date, Harmon’s taking on the setting role for the Cowgirls. She’s dished out 292, averaging 8.85 per set. She’s also made 65 digs (1.97 per set) and 15 blocks.
— Allison White, Texas Tech, MB
Also a strong blocking middle for TAV this past club season, White is making her presence felt at Texas Tech. She leads the Red Raiders in stuffs with 28 (0.90 per set). She’s been effective on offense as well. White is fourth with 60 kills, averaging 1.94 per set and hitting at a .375 clip.
— Berklie Baker, TCU, DS
Baker’s settling in at the DS spot for the Horned Frogs. She’s appeared in all but one set so far, with 52 digs (1.73) and 7 aces.
— Sam Sanders, Texas A&M, OH
Through six contests so far, Sanders has appeared in 17 of the Aggies’ 21 sets. She’s currently sixth in kills with 20 and has 7 blocks.
— Bailey Downing, Utah State, MB
In limited time so far, Downing’s recorded 5 kills and 7 blocks.
— Lexie Smith, Illinois, DS
Smith has yet to record any stats for Illinois.
