JN’s: Moving Day in 18 Open Big For Handful Of Teams

Day 2 is known as moving day, teams either helping their positioning or hurting it.

Two of the biggest winners Tuesday during 18 Open at Junior Nationals hailed from the same region in So Cal squads Mizuno Long Beach 18 Rockstar and Forza1 North 18 Asics.

Long Beach forged ahead to a 3-0 day and could be in position to finish on top of its pool after being upset in its first match of the tournament Monday. Pool 3 is brutal and is producing insane volleyball with the trio of Legacy 18-Elite, Five Starz 18-1 and Long Beach, along with Asicis MAVS 18-1 adding much intrigue.

Forza was winless heading into the second day of competition but didn’t taste defeat Tuesday and could be set up to come out of its pool.

Another giant winner Tuesday came from the same state in Red Rock Black 18-1. The Nor Cal club registered the biggest upset of the tournament so far and is in place to win its pool if things break a certain way.

Yet another California bunch in Goldenwest 18 Asics made a move, still facing some tough odds of advancing but at least giving itself a shot.

Teams heading in the opposite direction are MAVA 18-Academy, Invasion 18-Black and CIA 18 Black.
