The final holdout, the Lone Star Classic was officially cancelled today, Wednesday, May 13th, according to the Lone Star Classic website. The Lone Star staff released the following statement regarding the reasons and results of the cancellation:
As many of you know, the Mizuno Lone Star Classic family has been holding on tight to the hope that we would be able to host the 33rd Annual Mizuno Lone Star Classic National Qualifier. Unfortunately, after a recent update from the City of Dallas and the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center (KBHCCD), we are heartbroken to have to announce the cancellation of the 2020 event. The cancellation of LSC also includes the cancellation of the SWBT Finals and Tour Finals 18s events that were scheduled to be hosted in conjunction with the LSC. While it was extremely difficult to hear the decision, we understand and agree that this is in the best interest of all those involved with the event.
We want to thank all of our partners that have hung in there with us, including the KBHCCD and the Dallas Sports Commission; our sponsors including Mizuno, Molten and Courts Galore; our staff who has worked tirelessly these last two months to try to find ways to make the LSC happen; the North Texas Region and USA Volleyball; and most importantly, the clubs that have supported our event over the last 30+ years. Like you, our Austin Junior Volleyball players and coaches are among the many looking forward to the competition and camaraderie at the event. While the historical records of the LSC will show an asterisk next to 2020 – the year that wasn’t – rest assured that in the years to come, the Lone Star Classic will continue to provide a world-class event, whatever that iteration might look like.
The full details of the cancellation can be found in Lone Star’s press release here.

The Northeast Qualifier is now the tenth qualifier to be cancelled, taking to Facebook to officially announce the cancellation, slated to be held June 6-8 and June 12-14. The message is posted below.
It is with great disappointment that we must announce the cancellation of the 2020 Under Armour Northeast Qualifier. Every effort was made by the NEQ staff and the city of Philadelphia to construct a way that we could still host the event, but ultimately, we simply ran out of time in the 2020 club volleyball season. We appreciate the support of the City of Philadelphia and the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau; our partners including Under Armour and Molten; the Keystone Region and USA Volleyball; and most importantly the clubs that make the NEQ a great event.
Three of the final four remaining qualifiers have been cancelled as of today, May 13th, leaving just the Lone Star Classic left to be potentially played.
On Wednesday, May 13th, it was announced via the USA Volleyball Response to Covid-19 page and the Show Me Qualifier website that the Show Me Qualifier, originally rescheduled for June 12-14 has now been cancelled. The following message was posted by the Show Me Staff:
It is with great sadness that we announce the cancellation of the Asics Show Me National Qualifier for 2020. With the new parameters for re-opening that Kansas City has put in place, it just would not be possible to run the event on June 12-14. We will begin processing refunds immediately but please understand that these could take a few weeks to process. All hotel cancellations will be handled by Team Travel Source. Thank you for hanging in there with us as we tried to re-schedule this event. We hope to see you all back in 2021.
