On Monday, June 28, USA Volleyball announced that the confirmed location for USA Girls Junior Nationals in 2022 would be Indianapolis, Indiana. According to the USA Volleyball website, Nationals will also be extended to a 12-day event.
The event is poised to host over 1,600 teams over the dozen day span, including the 11-17 age groups. USAV events director Kristy Cox was quoted saying, “USA Volleyball is excited to bring the Girls Junior National Championship back to Indianapolis in 2022. Indy has proven to be a great host and partner for this event.” The decision to expand the event’s timespan was motivated by the allowance for more space in the convention center as the number of teams competing grows and the introduction of two new divisions.
Over 60,000 players, coaches, parents, and volleyball fanatics will take over the ‘crossroads of America,’ who played host to USAV Nationals in both 2016 and 2019. According to Chris Gahl from Visit Indy, the economic impact of the event should generate close to 100 million dollars. This will be USA Volleyball’s 42nd Girls Junior Nationals event.
