Every year, we name a PrepVolleyball.com High School National Champion; however, as everyone knows, 2020 was not an 'every year.' The novel Corona Virus had a staggering impact on the volleyball community on every level in every capacity. In fact, it still rears its ugly head now, at the beginning of the club season. So how could we name a single national champion when nearly half of the country didn't even play yet? Well... we can't. So we aren't. Instead, we will be crowning a Fall national champion and a Spring national champion for the high school game.

But before we do, we have to examine what makes a national champion. Many factors go into deciding how one team rises above the rest and deserves the PrepVolleyball.com National Champion title. It's about a body of work, and not just who has the best record, but about the program's continued success, the experience of the players and coach on the roster, and the depth of talent that allows a team to be successful through injury, illness, absence, and in this case, a pandemic.

The following teams have checked many, if not all, of those boxes, and that is why they have made the list of finalists for this past Fall's National Championship. So, without further ado, we present five teams that the potential to earn the coveted title of PrepVolleyball.com National Champions.
