Asics Challenge (Day 1): Don't Count Out the Mighty Macs of McAuley
FacebookTwitterEmailPrint

The Asics Challenge in Chicago this weekend began Friday with a few surprises and opportunities for teams to move into powerful positions. Eight pools of three teams played off to determine a single winner in each pool to advance to the Gold bracket on Saturday.

Six teams were ranked in our latest top 100 national rankings and just four of those made it through. Four in-state contenders, one from Nebraska, and three more from Kentucky have earned their way to compete for Gold on the second and final day of the event.

Perhaps the biggest story of the day is unranked and host team, Mother McAuley out of Pool 3 who upended two nationally-ranked teams in just as many days - and doesn't show signs of slowing down.
