Day 1 at ASICS Challenge: Can Assumption Be Beat?

The ASICS Challenge in Chicago this weekend is one of the final prestigious high school tournaments that bring in several Nationally-ranked teams. Six of those are in attendance this year in the 24-team tournament and after Day 1, all of them will move onto Gold with two more to join them.

In fact, the pools in which the two non-ranked teams made it through were the only two teams who jumbled up the seeding to do so.

After No. 1 Assumption has won its own LIVT tournament and then again against a tough (mostly) West Coast field at Durango, I asked coaches Ron and Anne Kordes if they were ready for a third win. “Are you trying to jinx us?” Anne Kordes asked.
