    Great stories, especially the one about Mother McCauley. I’ll take a player with an iron will over one with a couple more inches of height or vert.

    Great stories.

    I was kind of hoping to see a mention here of Heritage Christian Academy from Olathe, Kansas. We won our state championship this year, only a year after our beloved Head Coach, Janice Van Gorp, died suddenly at the beginning of the season last year from an undiagnosed brain aneurism. We actually won runner-up champions at State last year as Coach Janice had predicted, and wound up facing the same State champion team in the final match this year. Prior to these two seasons, HCA had never even advanced beyond sub-state. The local media did pieces on the story:
