Sometimes in the volleyball community, we get wrapped up in the club teams and high schools who are historically successful. We focus on how many State and National Championships the program has had, how long a program has been ranked, and who is coming back from last year to make the team even better.
But, when we focus on what has been, we forget about what can be and what is simply becoming.
Fifteen miles North of Shreveport, Louisiana, around 2,000 people live in a town called Benton. Having been in existence for over a century, Benton HS itself has had more building renovations than volleyball teams. That’s because this year in 2018, the Benton Tigers are competing in its inaugural volleyball season.
