Santa Margarita Parties Like It’s 1999

Santa Margarita celebrates the program’s first state title since 1999, the only one in school history prior to Friday night’s victory.

Earning a spot in last year’s inaugural Open Division championship and finishing runner up to Archbishop Mitty, Santa Margarita had positioned itself for a return trip to the toughest division in the California state playoffs this fall.

However, the Eagles were knocked out of the quarterfinals of the CIF Southern Section playoffs by Redondo Union, as the Sea Hawks advanced to Open Division instead by virtue of reaching the semis.
