Houston-area Seven Lakes HS (25-1) won the Class 6A State crown and made it the first in its program’s history. It was a long time coming for the Spartans who were the State runner-up team in 2017 behind Hebron when the now-seniors were freshmen. That group three years ago left a legacy and paved the way for a State Championship to be won. After overcoming injuries and COVID-19 setbacks, the Spartans carried through by finishing this season on top in the state’s largest classification.
Seven Lakes finished 25-1 on the year and gave Klein HS
(27-1) its first loss on the season after beating the Bearkats in four sets for
the gold medal (24-26, 25-22, 25-20, 25-22).
