Wrapping up the ASICS Challenge in Chicago

Notre Dame Academy (KY) smiles in pink for Silver at the ASICS Challenge

To get into the Chicago ASICS Challenge tournament hosted by Mother McAuley, it’s not as simple as signing up and trying your hand against several Nationally-ranked teams. First, if you are an Illinois team, you must qualify for an entry the following year by winning the Nike Preview tournament. If you’re from out of state, you must be invited and hold your own to be invited back the following year. The lowest-finishing team from Illinois will not be welcomed back next year, but instead, they’ll have to re-qualify at the Preview.

This is to keep the tournament competitive, proven by the six Nationally-ranked teams in attendance this year. McAuley coach Jen DeJarld and her staff do a fantastic job of inviting teams so there aren’t too many from the same state, and with seeding, so teams don’t play a program on its schedule from the onset.
