HS All-Americans

2017 PrepVolleyball.com High School All-Americans

Where will Madi Robinson (left), Adanna Rollins (center) and Erin O’Leary land in our All-American listing?

Agony…and ecstasy. There simply is no other way to describe the process of selecting high school All Americans. That’s why I think I’ll be repeating these lines to introduce this story every year. On the one hand, we are thrilled to recognize 150 deserving players from 41 states as 2017 PrepVolleyball.com All-Americans. On the other, there are always too many talented kids and not enough spots for all of them. Tough choices had to be made. Agonizing choices. Choices that have had me up the past several nights stressing!

Seemed kinda weird that neither #8 Senior Ace Kylie Robinson, nor #11 Karson Bacon, made All American. Kylie didn’t even make Honorable Mention! We’ll happily take them both at Oregon nevertheless. (I don’t envy your task of making these tough selections–and no, you don’t have to justify yourself. I enjoy reading these lists.) 🙂

Kylie was special mention. Because these are HS lists, how your team fares is critical. You have two setters: one is a top recruit like Kylie whose team makes no impact statewide or even in its Southern Section division. The other is unheralded as a recruit but led her team to a state title and national ranking and was state tournament MVP. You can only choose one. This scenario plays out dozens and dozens of times when picking All-Americans. That’s why we have both recruiting lists and HS lists. Your inclusion on one does not guarantee inclusion on the other. Thanks for the comment!
