National HS Rankings

PrepVolleyball.com’s Top 100 National HS Rankings (Sept. 20)

Last week’s rankings update saw less than 10 new schools join the Top 100. There was almost twice as much shake up in that department this week. However, the biggest news is we have a new national No. 1.

Assumption of Kentucky takes over the top position after its performance in winning the Durango Fall Classic this past weekend in Las Vegas.  Assumption is 25-0 but three times has been within a set of defeat. The first was against Mercy before winning in five. Then Avon took Assumption to three, as did Mater Dei at Durango.

Also, with Walton losing twice and Champlin Park going down, there was more movement in the Top 10, as Yorktown and West Orange replace them.

As for the rest of the Top 100, 13 teams fell from the rankings altogether, including six that were in the Top 50. It means someone had to take their place. The newcomers and/or returners to the Top 100 this week are as follows:

  • Arrowhead (Wisconsin)
  • Benet Academy (Illinois)
  • Cathedral Catholic (California)
  • Flower Mound (Texas)
  • Naperville North (Illinois)
  • Nation Ford (South Carolina)
  • Plant (Florida)
  • Plainfield Central (Illinois)
  • Prairie Ridge (Illinois)
  • Sandburg (Illinois)
  • St. Thomas Aquinas (Kansas)
  • Waubonsie Valley (Illinois)
  • Waunakee (Wisconsin)

Take a look at Pinnacle High (Arizona) who just won the Nike TOC (Diamond Division) with a 7-0 record. They beat Chapparal in the finals, and have a 16-4 overall record and impressive wins over Horizon and Rio Rancho on their schedule. Senior Kylie Stokes (South Carolina commit, AZ Storm) and 4 sophomores playing regularly have made this team a ‘must watch’ in the second half!
