I love the fact that I’m a little rough around the edges. I’m not perfect, never implied that I am. But, that’s okay. I don’t expect my team to be either.
I love the fact that emotion runs through me like blood. That I get wrapped up in my task, and therefore I’m all in. 100%. Just like I expect my team to be all in.
I love the fact that I am raw. Unrehearsed. So my words come out sometimes in a way that, while they may not be pretty, or poetic, they mean something. They mean I care. Just like I expect my team to care.
I love the fact that my job allows me to achieve the thing I love. To be a teacher of young adults. To show them another perspective. And to help them get better. Just like I expect my team to do.
I love the fact that winning and losing are equally important. What one teaches the other reinforces. That hard work is its own reward and pays back in time. Just like I expect my team will do.
I love the fact that we approach this as a unit. No parts are greater than the others. The coach can’t win without the team, and the team needs its coach to stay cohesive. We are one. Just like I expect my team will be.
I love our game. Our game. A gift that’s been given to us and that we need to have an aggressive honor for. A pure team sport where even the greatest can be humbled by not having support. Where the smartest team wins. Where TEAM is the key. Just like I expect my team, with my help, will be.
