A change to the format last season introduced power pools to the Bluegrass Tournament in Louisville for the first time and the tournament directors opted to stay with it this season as well. By the looks of it, the format is here to stay for the foreseeable future. 

The competitive volleyball it creates for teams in the power pool is undeniable. The only downside though is it does have a tendency to zap part of the Day 1 storylines. One of the biggest questions that always pops up on the opening day is centered around upsets.
