There’s a new look to the sport of volleyball this year wherever you look, at all levels. The Louisville Invitational Volleyball Tournament (LIVT) was no different as the KIVA Sports Center hosted a one-day event with just eight area teams instead of the usual 24.
Though Assumption is no stranger to the podium - it last won in 2018 - the Rockets are still learning who they are this season. For the last couple of years, particularly in the 2019 season, Assumption was able to rely on two heavy-hitters to bail itself out when it ran into trouble – Anna Debeer, now at Louisville, and Rylee Rader, at Ohio State. The Rockets don’t have those weapons this year, and it is searching for the next athlete(s) to step up to be a go-to arm when the team is treading in murky waters.
“This weekend is the first time I’ve seen that happen,” said Assumption head coach Ron Kordes.
