For many years, a team’s results at the Berkeley Premier in Tampa, Florida was the standard for how you might rank among other state contenders. Longtime Berkeley Prep coach Randy Dagostino grew the event to welcome several State Champions from a handful of states in the Southeastern United States. Each team thought it could win the event, but, like many of the historically strong events across the country, coaches came for their teams to be pushed.

Over the last few years, as other tournaments in the region began popping up, the Berkeley Premier became a more local event. This year is no exception, though COVID-19 and restrictive travel is the reason for the 27^th annual tournament to have a limited turnout. Despite the hurdles and hoops that high school programs are going through this year, the Berkeley Premier kept history alive with another year in the books.

“To me, it was a very competitive 12-team tournament,” said Berkeley head coach Justeen Coulson. “The tournament ran very smoothly, thanks to help from our administration and [Berkeley alumna and former coach] Mackenzie Dagostino for letting us use her platform, Sport Wrench, for results.”
