When you heard that things began to be cancelled due to COVID-19 – school, volleyball tournaments, and more – even if it was fleeting, you might have daydreamed about sleeping in and watching Netflix on a daily basis. It sounds tempting, but it won’t help developing competitors stay on track with their athletic and academic goals.
We checked in with a few student-athletes to see if they felt that it was important to create a daily schedule. Turns out they not only think it’s important, but many high schoolers have shown their maturity during this extraordinary time.
“I felt it was important for me to have a plan during this time of isolation because I want to stay on track and remain focused as an athlete,” said sophomore MB Jalen Tennyson of Sunshine 16 Westside and Marlborough HS in California. “Having a personal academic schedule for myself also has the added benefits of helping me limit distractions, stay organized, and remain focused and productive.”
